This was the first week of sailing but as the plan is to get up to Lofoten this summer we needed to push on. So, shake down sail and then off round the coast. But of course best laid plan of mouse and man ... during my inspection of the rigging I noticed that the 19 strand stainless steel Lower Shrouds had failed and one or two strands had pulled out. On the basis that we were in the best place to replace them we delayed departure by a couple of days and I spent a happy few hours up the mast. The rigging is only 6 years old so we were surprised that it hasnt lasted longer but it has been well used!

Once we had replaced lowers we cracked on with the business of sailing. All went well and we had a lovely cruise round to Lillesand stopping at Arendal and Grimstad en route. The weather was idyllic; cold but bright sunshine from start to finish.
