Boat Blind Plans | Mixed Bag

Boat Blind Plans

A bit of an update …. some good and some bad news...

Good news:
 -  mainsail arrived back - recut for new mast shape - from Norths in Auckland today.  Should  be much better now.  And the reef points should be there too.
 - in the bag with the main was the furling cable from KZ for the A3, looks like a very nice bit of gear.  This will be useable very soon, maybe Sunday.
 -  I made inhaulers today, so now we can sheet the jib inboard for upwind.
 -  deck fitting for inner forestay went on today
 - Gordie got the mast seal on today, so we wont have a lake in the cabin sole every time it rains now.

Bad news:
 - we dont have an inner forestay yet
 - forecast for planned first race tomorrow 30+ gusting 40, were not up to this yet, and its likely to be cancelled anyway.  And in Wellington at this time of year, these forecasts arent wrong very often.
 - battery management system did something odd again this afternoon.  Not a major but clearly not working like its supposed to.
 - we found nearly 3 litres of hydraulic fund under the starboard ram, so something is leaking (so thats where its all gone!).  Ill be down there tomorrow trying to find out why, probably just a loose fitting

Boat Plans Uk | Crewsaver Buoyancy Bag

Boat Plans Uk

Before I can take ‘Pike’ for a sail I must check that her stern buoyancy bag does not leak. When I bought her I found that the bag was deflated, and I presumed it leaked. It is a 1998 Crewsaver 27 kilogram (60 lbs), 760 mm x 230 mm polyurethane nylon, pillow-shaped bag that is held in place by two straps.

The cheapest new replacement would cost £33.50 from Sailboats.co.uk, including free delivery.  Altogether I looked at nine online chandlers, and I thought that Seamark Nunn would be the cheapest, but when I added the delivery charge of £4.99 it worked out at £35.90. The most expensive was CrewSafe at £38.45.

I tested the bag for leaks by submerging it in a bath of water and I couldn’t find any escaping air. Over the next few days I’ll monitor the situation to see if it gradually deflates.
